    Faculty of Chemistry, Hanoi Pedagogical University 2 was established in 1978. During that period, there were 25 staffs including 19 lecturers and 6 office workers who were in charge of laboratories. The faculty was divided into 4 specialized divisions: Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Khoat took the first position of the dean. Since the foundation, the faculty have always carried out good political missions and gained a lot of achievements in educational training and doing research, training and standardizing the high school teachers from different provinc
    In 1981, by the virtue of the demand of the training and the training scheme of the country, Faculty of Chemistry was merged with the Faculty of Biology and Agriculture Engineering. In any respects, the staffs have fulfilled all the tasks excellently and the faculty constantly made an attempt to achieve the good results. Since 1990 all the lecturers of Chemistry Division have taken part in designing the curriculum in Biological Chemistry and trained 15 courses with a view to meeting the social demand of teaching inter-subject Biological Chemistry for both lower secondary and upper secondary schools.
    In 2005, to meet the requirement of expanding the multi-level, multi-industry and multi-field training scale of the university and the demand of training teachers of chemistry, Faculty of Chemistry was re-founded to become an independent department in the structure of the university. The faculty took the responsibility for training bachelors majored in chemistry and chemistry teaching, and teaching chemistry to all the students in other faculties. Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Van Bang was the dean of the faculty and MA. Phi Van Hai was the vice dean.
    In 2005, the Faculty of Chemistry held a celebration of 10-year re-foundation and 37-year establishment. Currently, there are 31 staffs (11 PhDs, 17 postgraduates, 03 bachelors) including 02 Assoc. Profs, 02 senior lecturers, 01 major lecturer, 22 lecturers, 03 technicians, 02 office workers. The faculty is classified into 5 divisions: General Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physical - Technological and Environmental Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, and Chemistry Teaching Methodology.
    From the refoundation up to now, the faculty has compiled and implemented the curriculum of training bachelors in engineering technology of pedagogy, full-time and part-time engineering technology in chemistry, biology, physics, technical pedagogy and family economics, etc., and classes of teaching aids for the teachers from provinces like Tuyen Quang, Lao Cai, etc.
    With the aim of improving the quality of education and meet the demand of educational reform, the Faculty of Chemistry has made training and research coordination with other institutes inside and outside Hanoi Pedagogical University 2 such as Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (Institute of Chemistry, Institute of Natural Products Chemistry, Institute of Tropical Technology, Institute of Environmental Technology, Institute of Materials Science, Institute of Marine Biology, etc.), Hanoi Pedagogical University, University of Natural Science and other universities in the country.
    In respect of research, the lecturers have participated in a variety of science conferences inside and outside the university and successfully defensed many scientific and technological projects at school level and ministerial level with high results. Besides, various textbooks, lectures and references have been published. With the accomplishments in teaching and doing research, many lecturers won the titles such as the "Emulative Soldier at the Grassroots Level", awarded by the Rector, "Emulative Soldier at the Ministerial Level", Certificate of Merit from the Ministry of Education and Training, Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister.
    Students of Faculty of Chemistry, who took part in Olympic Chemistry Competitions, won the high prizes. The scientific research movement among students is very strong, many of them have won scientific research awards and many scientific papers and articles have been published in scientific journals.
    Every year, students of the Faculty participate and achieve many outstanding achievements in youth movements, students' associations, the culture and sports movements of the University, etc., have been conferred Certificate of Merit by university, Hanoi Youth Union and Student Association.
    In addition to training the Bachelor of Science, the Faculty also offers master's degrees in theoretical and teaching methods of Chemistry. In the coming years, the Faculty of Chemistry will gradually prepare for the opening of the master's and doctoral majors.

    Inorganic-General Chemistry currently consists of 6 staffs: 02 doctors, 03 masters (01 postgraduate in Russia), 01 bachelor. This group was established in 2005 together with the restoration of the Faculty of Chemistry. At the beginning of re-establishment, the group had 4 lecturers, and now 6 staffs. At present, PhD. Nguyen Van Quang is in charge of the group leader. Main research areas of the group are Nanotechnology in the field of optics, magnetism and photocatalysis, research on the structure and theoretical foundations of chemical processes, Ionizing metals and bio-sensors, polymeric materials with the capability of absorbing and reflecting light. Not only do the lecturers have participated in different level projects: at grassroots level, at prioritized grassroots level, nafoted and conferences but they have also written articles for prestige journals in Vietnam and other countries all over the world.

    In 2005, when Faculty of Chemistry was re-established, Group of Organic Chemistry – Chemist Physics was under the management of PhD. Duong Quang Huan, who was the group leader. In 2012, the group was renamed Organic Chemistry. Along with the ups and downs period, some of members were retired and some had other new positions, but the rest members were determined to set a new goal: dedicated to work, determined with politics, excellent at professions, brave in life, willing to share, dare to think and to do.
    Currently, Organic Chemistry consists of 6 staffs: 01 Assoc. Prof., PhD, 03 PhDs, 02 postgraduates, and the leader is PhD. Chu Anh Van. Not only do the lecturers take responsibility for teaching, training the teachers, supervising students’ research, participating National Chemistry Olympic Competitions, etc. but they also writing National Secondary School Examinations, compile textbooks in orientation of radical and overall education and training reform.
    In addition, research tasks are always considered as the focus, many scientific articles by team members are regularly published in the prestigious magazines and conferences inside and outside the country. With the strength of the current staff, Organic Chemistry Division focuses on doing research on research oriented products: subdividing natural compounds, synthetized bioactive compounds, material chemistry, etc.
    At present, the code of master's training in Organic Chemistry is in the process of being confirmed by Ministry of Education and Training, which is also the expectation of the lecturers as well as generations of students in the Faculty of Chemistry. The staffs of Organic Chemistry attempt to make a great contribution to Hanoi Pedagogical University 2 and build it up to become one of the leading universities in Vietnam so that generations of students have always been proud of having lived and studied under the roof of this university.

    When Faculty of Chemistry was re-established, Analytical Chemistry was a subject of Analytical Methodology. In June 2015, Analytical Methodology was divided into 2 divisions named Methodology and Analysis. Currently, Analysis Chemistry consists of 5 staffs including 04 lecturers and 01 technician, 05 masters (02 masters are doing the PhD. courses in Vietnam and 01 master is a postgraduate in Russia). As a professional division, all the young group members have done their best to complete the work of teaching, do scientific research, guide students how to do research, train the talented students who participate in National Olympic Chemistry Competition and implement other tasks.
    Major research areas of Analysis Chemistry are methods of chemico-physical analysis, methods of modern analysis such as polarography, MS, HPLC, etc.
    Lately many research articles and journals have been published.

    Currently, there are 6 staffs including three PhDs and three masters. The division was founded in 2012 thanks to combination of Physical Chemistry and Technology and Environment. Before its establishment, chemical Physics belonged to Group of Organic Chemistry - Physical Chemistry and Chemistry of Technology and Environment belonged to Teaching Methodology - Analysis - Environment.
    With a view to helping students approach and apply their chemical knowledge to the real life and production, every school year, there are two trips for students to visit real production in prestigious factories and enterprises. Each member of the division has made regular attempts to innovate their teaching methods with the aim of teaching better and improving the self-learning ability of students. Along with the task of guiding and training students to take part in National Olympic Chemistry Competitions, every member of the division also guides students to participate in scientific research and have won the high prizes in Talented Students Doing Research Competition at university level and National Eureka Student Research Award.
    By August, 2018, the lecturers had guided students to win five scientific research awards at all levels; published 20 international ranking articles; 50 articles published in domestic journals; 16 national and international conferences; 14 research topics at all levels (including 02 Nafosted researches); compiled a variety of textbooks and references.
    The main research directions of the division are resource materials for microorganism energy cells, textile dying wastewater treatment, environmental treatment technology, quantum dot materials, super-porous materials, plant protection drugs, electrode materials, informatics in chemistry, etc. In the coming years, all the staffs of the division will strive to open the code of training in masters of physical chemistry and theoretical chemistry and achieve 100 % of the staff earning a degree of philosophy.

    Originally, Chemistry Methodology was Division of Teaching Methodology - Analysis- Environment in 2012. In 2015, it was renamed Chemistry Methodology. The group consists of 08 staffs: 01 Assoc. Prof., 01 PhD, 04 MAs (including 02 postgraduates), and 02 bachelors. The members of the division take responsibility for teaching, doing research, guiding students to do research (02 second prizes, 01 third prize for young talented students at university), managing students and doing other tasks. The lecturers frequently renew their teaching methods, hold periodical seminars, enthusiastically write research articles for conferences and have successfully organized pedagogical competence Competition. The students who took part in Teaching Festival won many high prizes (for 3 consecutive years they have won the first prize of teaching at university level: 2011-2012, 2012-2013, 2013-2014).
    Annually, there are many works of research done the lecturers are published in reputable journals. Some main research directions are renovation of teaching methods, active teaching methods, application of information technology in teaching Chemistry, designing and using common exercises in chemistry at secondary schools, developing teaching capacity for pedagogical students in Faculty of Chemistry, examination and evaluation according to the orientation of capacity development, teaching by subject, training excellent students, studying solutions to develop the system of specialized schools in the period of 2010-2020, etc.
    Specialization in Methodology and Chemistry Teaching Methodology began enrollment of masters in the academic year 2015 - 2016.
